Position: SHIPPER / RECEIVER
Department: Supply Chain
Reports To: Purchaser
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: Hourly; Variable with Experience
We need a motivated, organized, and hard-working individual to assume the shipping and receiving duties at our warehouse and yard. The successful applicant will be responsible to arrange shipments, receive freight, load trucks, pick parts/supplies for crew boxes, and handle stockroom inventory. Specific experience is not required, but applicants must be willing to learn and keen to work! This opening represents a special opportunity in a growing company, and early advancement for the right candidate is almost assured.
Job Description
• Unload freight, checking shipments for accuracy and recording quantity of goods received
• Sort goods received and stock shelves or forward parts to designated recipient
• Pick and package goods for shipment
• Set up courier shipments (via computer) and follow-up to ensure timely delivery
• Pick parts/supplies for construction crews; next day's items to be in designated area each evening
• Ensure large items (transport freight) are shipped complete
• Handle cargo, prepare shipments, and load trucks
• Work overtime as necessary to ensure daily responsibilities are fulfilled
Skills and Qualifications
• Strong organizational skills, with good multi-tasking abilities
• Basic computer experience required; moderate literacy and numeracy skills are imperative
• Attention to detail / alert to errors
• Must be self-motivated, and capable of excellent performance with limited direct oversight
• Some lift-truck or equipment-operating experience an asset
• Physically fit; hardworking; capable of loading & unloading trucks and preparing shipments with sustained efficiency
• Valid driver's licence with a clean driving abstract
