Role description: Consists of crop monitoring to enable pest, weed and nutritional management decisions throughout the growing season. Skills in crop diagnostics are an asset. Includes nitrate and tissue sampling along with field mapping at critical points in the growing season. You will be continuously trouble-shooting field issues on the go such as insects, disease and nutrient deficiencies. We participate in several insect trapping networks determining pest thresholds across the region. You will collect observations and log data on a mobile platform to establish long term farm/field history. All systems are digital/electronic and require a strong knowledge of data management. Must be a self starter with a willingness to embrace hands on tasks. Must be able to work independently under time sensitive priorities. A vehicle will be provided while at work but you will need transportation to and from work. We offer competitive wages along with extensive training and coaching. Vehicles, atv and iPads are provided. These positions are seasonal running 4 to 6 months from April to October.
Competencies: Strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Must possess an ability to think critically to solve problems independently. Applicants must be self-motivated to achieve excellence. Computer aptitude is essential.
Education and Experience: Seeking applicants who have a minimum 2 years of field experience or are studying in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Biological Science or Environmental Science. Knowledge of crop production is an asset. Valid G Driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
