St. Lawrence Grains & Farm Supply Ltd. is a progressive agribusiness located in Stouffville, serving producers throughout Ontario. At this time, we are seeking a professional to join our team in the position of General Manager. This position will be located in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area. Reporting will be to the President of the company.
The objective of this role is to develop and implement strategies in order to increase the market share of grain and crop inputs. This position will require a leader that brings knowledge and experience in grain procurement, crop inputs and related precision Ag services, and management with a sales focus. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the crop input sales team to increase market share by taking an organized and targeted approach to servicing current customers and approaching prospects.
Responsible for the grain origination portion of the business, reaching predetermined budgeted originated tonnes for the business.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, encouraging staff to build strong relationships that will increase grain origination
Ensure crop input inventory is available to fulfill customer requirements in a timely manner.
Coordinate to ensure administration is serving customers through timely handling of all transactions - managing grain freight, settlements etc.
Work with operational staff to ensure that customer orders are filled promptly/efficiently, grain receiving happens in an efficient and expeditious manner.
Provide input in the development of marketing plans that support sales objectives.
Continually monitor the sales and marketing plan to ensure that goals and objectives are realistic and on target.
Accurately forecast volumes, manage margins and terms and timing.
Ensure specialized marketing and sales plans exist for each territory when market conditions require it.
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong team development skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
Well rounded understanding of Ag business fundamentals both for the business and various customers as required - this includes reading/managing financial statements and cash flow/budgets.
Degree in Business or Agriculture or relevant experience.
5 years in a Management role in the Agriculture industry.
