• Preparation and delivery of feed rations for beef cattle and other livestock on the Lakeland College farm
• Operation and maintenance of computerized feed mill and mobile mixer wagon
• Receiving feed grains and supplements, processing feed grains, and working with the Student Managed Farm and applied research department on feeding, rations, and general care of farm animals
• Feed inventory control and reporting quarterly feed inventories
• Repair and maintenance of farm equipment including oil changes and greasing, minor repairs, thawing and repairing stock waterers, building and repairing corrals and other penning, maintaining and repairing feed systems, driver and safety training of students (tractor and written training)
• Record keeping and account transfers to ensure proper billing of feed to each unit, ensure account transfers are done monthly
• Attend Student Managed Farm nutrition committee meetings as necessary, and work with faculty and students to consult and coordinate activities related to feeds and feeding on the College farm
• To be an active part of the team in assisting other farm staff and faculty in other farm related duties that may arise relating to the crops, beef, dairy, equine or sheep units
• Post-secondary two year diploma in agriculture related education
• Two years experience with farm equipment operation, specifically feed tractor and mixer wagon experience
• Other farm equipment experience would be an asset
• Manual labour is required
• Valid drivers' license
This is a Full-time Permanent AUPE appointment at the Vermilion campus commencing as soon as possible. The current salary range is $48,362 - $60,945 per annum and includes a generous benefit package and pension plan.
