Responsibilities:
Soil sample fields. Compile results and interpret into fertility plans with clients
Scout fields as needed to diagnose insect, disease or other crop issues. Recommend actions where required
Design field trials, implement and monitor through to completion
Assist producers in budgeting and cost monitoring
Interact with suppliers, applicators and laboratories
Remain current on new and innovative practices (Precision Ag and UAV technology)
Provide agronomic training for Agronomy Assistants
Document and maintain records on behalf of clients
Build relationships with clients
A vehicle will be provided. Longer hours are required during peak season. We offer competitive wages along with extensive training and coaching.
Competencies: Strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Must possess an ability to think critically to solve problems independently. Applicants must be self-motivated to achieve excellence. Computer aptitude is essential. Requires a strong knowledge of data management. Skills in crop diagnostics are an asset. Must be a self-starter with a willingness to embrace hands on tasks. Must be able to work independently under time sensitive priorities.
Education and Experience: Seeking applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Biological Science or Environmental Science. Knowledge of crop production systems in Ontario is required. Must have a valid G Driver’s License with a clean driving record. A designation as Certified Crop Advisor or willingness to achieve this designation is required.
