Farrowing Technician - Filled (ID: 1417)

Our client is a growing farming operation with a 3500 space nursery and 6000 space finishing site located 30 min south west of London, Ontario. At this time they are welcoming a new team member that wishes to grow their careers as they grow.

What you will do:

Care for and handle of sows and piglets

Feed and check water

Monitor and assist sows during Farrowing

Monitor and ensure newborns receive Colostrum, clean piglets and adjust heat lamps

Treat sows and piglets by administering vaccines and medicines

Perform piglet processing duties, such as, tattooing, tail clipping, castrating, and giving iron shots

Cleaning facilities and power washing (prepare rooms, wash, and set up)

Pre-Farrow/Post Farrow sow movements, and shipping/receiving of animals

Keeping detailed and accurate records

Understand and follow Bio-Security Program

What you will need:

Strong interest in working with animals with a desire to learn and self-develop

Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Must have reliable transportation

Past livestock experience in a swine operation an asset but not required
