Description
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the efficient planning and manufacture of feed products, plant preventative maintenance, Occupational Health and Safety, HACCP, GMP, Nutrace and other Quality Control Standards. Reporting to the Production Supervisor is a Lead Hand and a team of production employees.
What you will do:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Manages the Plant Operations by efficient, economical and effective utilization of the Plant and directing the various projects and resources;
Identifies the operational goals as established with the Director of Operations and performs either directly or indirectly, those activities necessary to achieve the goals and objectives to obtain the maximum growth and business profitability;
Serves as a key member of the Continuous Improvement Team, various Project Teams as required and Special Projects including, but not limited to M3 Implementation and Automation Retrofit Projects.
Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all machinery and equipment in the Plant are properly maintained through a preventative maintenance program;
Responsible for ensuring that daily plant scheduling activities are effectively completed balancing customer service pickup schedule and operational efficiency;
Hires, advises, counsels, evaluates and disciplines employees reporting to him/her and recommends changes in compensation to the Human Resources Manager within an established process;
Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Work closely with various departments including but not limited to Quality Control, Nutrition, Customer Service, and Logistics.
What you will need:
Minimum 5 years related experience managing production or similar experience in feed production manufacturing within a feed mill;
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering preferred, but not required. Industrial Automation and Process Control experience and Agriculture experience an asset;
Proven Supervisory experience and change management skills;
Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5s and SMED improvement methodologies considered an asset.
Computer skills applicable to functional responsibilities, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word;
Ability to quickly prioritize individual responsibilities and effectively manage time;
