Field Inspector, Term (ID: 1458)

Scope:

We are presently seeking a Field Inspector to conduct regular site visits and audits, deliver educational programs and act as ambassador of Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC). Key responsibilities include: monitoring hen inventories, monitoring flow and quality of product purchased and sold by EFC; educating producers and industry personnel, evaluating and auditing each production unit in the respective provinces; and supporting the flow of information between EFC and all provinces.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position reports to the Field Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct field audits of producer sites to monitor hen inventories
• Delivery and inspection of food safety and animal welfare programs
• Inspect the quality of product purchased and sold by EFC
• Educate and promote food safety and animal care programs and inspect for compliance
• Verify products by monitoring grading stations and breaking plants, reviewing their storage conditions and ensuring proper documentation and labelling
• Summarize and complete reports on a weekly basisFrequent travel is required sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications:

Candidates will ideally have 2 3 years of experience of agriculture or food safety with specialized university/ college education in poultry/livestock or food safety.

Additional qualifications and skills required include:

• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English for the purpose of completing daily activities is required
• Ability to influence and collaborate with external stakeholders any issues and concerns in a constructive manner and gain their support and compliance
• Strong diplomacy and conflict resolution skills
• Valid driver s licence and able to drive for regular site visits
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of HACCP-based food safety programs and auditing principles would be advantageous.
• Knowledge and understanding of poultry/livestock management and practices is desirable
