We are presently seeking a Field Inspector to conduct regular site visits and audits, deliver educational programs and act as ambassador of Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC). Key responsibilities include: monitoring hen inventories, monitoring flow and quality of product purchased and sold by EFC; educating producers and industry personnel, evaluating and auditing each production unit in the respective provinces; and supporting the flow of information between EFC and all provinces.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The position reports to the Field Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include:
Conduct field audits of producer sites to monitor hen inventories
Delivery and inspection of food safety and animal welfare programs
Inspect the quality of product purchased and sold by EFC
Educate and promote food safety and animal care programs and inspect for compliance
Verify products by monitoring grading stations and breaking plants, reviewing their storage conditions and ensuring proper documentation and labelling
Summarize and complete reports on a weekly basisFrequent travel is required sometimes with short notice.
Qualifications:
Candidates will ideally have 2 3 years of experience of agriculture or food safety with specialized university/ college education in poultry/livestock or food safety.
Additional qualifications and skills required include:
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English for the purpose of completing daily activities is required
Ability to influence and collaborate with external stakeholders any issues and concerns in a constructive manner and gain their support and compliance
Strong diplomacy and conflict resolution skills
Valid driver s licence and able to drive for regular site visits
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Knowledge of HACCP-based food safety programs and auditing principles would be advantageous.
Knowledge and understanding of poultry/livestock management and practices is desirable
