This position will focus on purchasing grain from valued suppliers while striving to achieve volume growth and profitability. You will be responsible for:
Working to continue growing a business that is the first choice in value-added grain marketing.
Provide market information and cash grain bids to clients.
Establish a grain marketing plan for targeted customers.
Develop relationships with growers, industry partners, and competitors
Purchase grain through supplier programs that meet or exceed their pricing, transportation, storage, and information.
Acquire new business through regular contact with current and prospective clients through onsite farm visits and via phone.
Work closely with the Crop Specialists and other staff to support the sales efforts of the Co-op through information on prospects, problems, and opportunities.
Purchase grain for delivery into company facilities and direct delivery markets.
Supports operational staff to deliver exceptional client service that will measurably increase the companies’ client retention.
Work with drivers, customers, and employees to set the time and location of on-farm and field pick-up purchases.
Understand and follow all health & safety, environmental policies, and procedures.
Maintains and updates customer information records on a daily basis.
Completes all administrative functions related to these purchases including contracts, settlements and updates to the Grain Merchandisers.
Requirements for this position:
Bilingual - French & English is a definite asset.
A University or College degree specializing in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing, Agri-Business, or an equivalent AND/OR 2-3 years of relevant work experience
A background and demonstrated success in agriculture
Passion for advice-based sales and customer relationship development.
Demonstrated passion for delivering exceptional customer service experiences.
Ability to build professional relationships and partnerships, assess business opportunities
