Our Client has proudly produced dairy products and served Western Canada for over 50 years. They started by manufacturing butter and eventually expanded to ice cream. To this day, they have stuck to the same old-fashioned, barrel churned techniques as they started with 50 years ago. This technique makes their product richer, creamier, and more full-bodied. They are now looking for a Head Butter Churn Operator to join their team at their Calgary location.
The Head Butter Churn Operator is an integral role in our manufacturing process. This position is responsible for ensuring churn operating is consistent to the company’s standard for quality, maintaining accurate production logs for the churns, and providing training on the churns. As the Head Churn Operator, you must support the business goals and objectives for producing top quality product through efficient and effective methods.
What You’ll Do:
Operate all churns to company standards
Balance the speeds of all churns when running simultaneously
Understand the line connections from all pumps to the machines
Maintain salt, Ph, and moisture levels in butter at company standards. Regularly perform tests and on active churns to ensure levels are correct and accurately records results
Maintain production logs of run times and complete all charts
Properly sanitize churns and supporting product lines prior to start of churn run and CIP churn and supporting product lines after churn run is complete
Help relieve for breaks on the Production floor
Properly run the CIP for cream and buttermilk tanks
Safely transfer product from the churns to the Butter boat
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Responsible for training new hires in the operation of the Churns
Maintain a clean, orderly, and neat work area
Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment
Attend and participate in regular production meetings to foster sharing of ideas and communication of company strategy and initiatives.
What You’ll Need:
Previous work experience and knowledge of Food Manufacturing Process, Dairy Production and Butter Churn operations
Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment
Ability work in a safe and efficient manner and follow all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment
Ability to write and speak in English
Knowledge of safe food handling practices
Proficient communication skills to maintain high levels of safety and efficiency
Solid understanding of the products produced, and manufacturing process involved
Physical ability to lift (up to) 40lbs and frequently walk throughout the Plant
