Inspector - Central Ontario (ID: 3773)

Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) is looking for a full-time Inspector that would work with egg and pullet farmers to ensure compliance of all EFO policies and regulations (including inventory numbers), as well as the delivery of EFO’s On-Farm Food Safety and Animal Care Program on farms located in the Counties of Waterloo, Wellington, Grey and Bruce areas, based out of a home office located within that area.  The successful candidate must be dynamic, self-motivated and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  They must be able to effectively work independently, as well as have the ability to work as part of a team.

Egg Farmers of Ontario is a non-profit organization that represents the over 500 egg and pullet farm families in Ontario.  Our mandate is to provide consumers with a guaranteed supply of safe, high-quality eggs at reasonable prices. This is accomplished through the efficient management of the production of eggs, research, product promotion and ongoing marketing activities.

The Inspector will be responsible for:

• Providing testing and on-farm services and monitoring farm/flock inventories for EFO’s egg and pullet farmers.
• Assisting with delivering EFO’s On-Farm Food Safety/Animal Care Program.
• Assisting with emergency planning and response programs.
• Enforcing EFO’s regulations and policies.
• Assisting with inspections and investigations as required.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in agriculture or food safety-related field.
• A motivated, self-starter.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills, including all Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic knowledge of the agriculture industry.
• Hold a valid G class driver’s license, access to own vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract.
• Previous auditing or inspection experience would be an asset.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• French fluency is preferred, but not essential.
