This Opportunity:
Our client is a leader in the production of hatching eggs for the poultry industry. They are locally owned and operated, serving Southwestern Ontario. We are recruiting for an Operations Manager to oversee operations for their multiple barn locations throughout southwestern Ontario. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Flocks and Farms Management
- Developing, overseeing and implementation of Breeder Flock Programs
- Developing and overseeing all flock husbandry programs and activities, such as bedding, feeding, watering, culling, A.I., egg collection
- Overseeing record keeping and retention
- Overseeing and implementing and company bio-security programs and procedures
- Implementing and overseeing farms emergency programs and procedures
- Implementation and supervision of Animal Welfare programs as to ensure that all flocks are protected against any conditions which might cause suffering or injury
- Seek to find solutions to resolve any condition which might cause undue suffering to any flocks
- Carrying out and overseeing flock monitoring procedures and protocols
- Develop and implement a preventative repair and maintenance program and schedule
- Responsible for carrying out and overseeing all farm buildings and equipment repairs and maintenance
- Coordinate ordering of supplies and services with internal and external suppliers;
People Management, Human Resources & Results
- Implement all guidelines and procedures that relate to employee recruiting/hiring, employee discipline, WSIB, employee communication, employee benefits, and time sheets reporting
- Coordinate, organize and schedule of farm workers to optimize production efficiencies and perform all required
- Employee Training – technical and other training of new employees and ongoing as needed.
- Oversee the implementation of all Health and Safety policies and programs as required by law and/or as required by the Company;
- Promote a healthy and safe environment and make all efforts required or otherwise to minimize the incidence of accidents and employee injuries;
- Communicate openly and effectively with employees, colleagues and company officials;
- Behave and take appropriate and concerted actions with the approval and guidance of your supervisor to deliver favourable non-financial and financial results to the company;
- Responsible for explaining non-financial and financial results;
- Take appropriate actions to protect the assets and interests of the company and its ownership;

- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to use appropriate forms of communication as needed
- Must have excellent people management skills as our business is heavily labour dependent
- Willing to travel as we have farm operations geographically well dispersed;
- Ability to read and understand financial statements or at a minimum have some background on this area that will allow candidate to learn this skill
- Ability to work and manage employees of varied backgrounds and origins
- College or University Degree would be an asset
- Flexible and Adaptable
- Experience on Managing Agri-business is an asset but not necessary but personal attributes and a strong desire to learn are more important
WORK CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION:
Company provides all amenities to work from home and to travel such as:

- Company RRSP whereby the company matches employee contributions up to 5% of base salary
- Incentive program based on company financial results (7% of base salary at the start of fiscal year)
- Holidays – 3 weeks holidays per year after completion of 1 year of employment;
- Reporting directly to the President-General Manager;
