Piccioni Bros Mushroom Farm Ltd., family owned and operated, is an innovative ag-tech company focused on mushroom growing and value-added specialty products.
We are currently seeking a Packaging Supervisor (flexibility in work hours required) to join our team. The Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring productivity; supervising and motivating employees to ensure all products are packed properly; and maintaining a sanitary environment which meets all safety regulations. Located in Dundas (near Hamilton), the successful candidate will:
Evaluate production/packaging processes and determine the most efficient method of accomplishing goals
Complete visual checks to ensure Packagers are following food safety guidelines (including good hygiene)
Ensure proper set-up of the process, to include machinery, computers and product schedule
Comply with the stock rotation program of mushrooms (FIFO)
Observe that shipping & receiving of mushrooms and other products is accurate and recorded
Assign a unique & unambiguous finished product identification code to mushrooms packaged
Release finished product to market
Supervise employees to meet performance expectations by providing strong leadership, decision-making ability, performance coaching and counselling
Coordinate and conduct employee training (i.e. job, safety, etc.) and monitor work performance
Coordinate scheduling of employees to ensure proper staffing
Assist in the recruitment, selection and orientation of new employees
Communicate and liase effectively with other supervisors, managers and departments to ensure smooth operation of the process and to determine packaging requirements
Ensure the Daily Packaging Checklist has been completed
Complete all assigned paperwork including the Shipping and Receiving Log, the Product Traceability Record, the Packaging Materials and any other paperwork
Education/Work experience requirements:
Post secondary education (Management or Food Science preferred)
Minimum 4 years experience in a supervisory role (food manufacturing environment is preferred)
5+ years experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment

Demonstrate initiative and sense of urgency to deliver results
Able to multi-task and prioritize
Resolve conflicts tactfully and diplomatically
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, etc.)
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Work flexible hours, weekends and holidays
