To whom it may concern,
I am a student currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science Agribusiness Degree at Olds College. My third year of the degree program will be completed on April 20th, 2018. I have also completed the Land Agent program at Olds College in 2016.
I am looking to acquire a full-time position as an Agricultural Specialist in a business department to contribute to the overall success of small businesses and agricultural operations. While working in a selected job placement I will need to be complete an eight-month Directed Field Study for the degree program’s fourth-year requirements. The program requires me to build a student learning plan to document goals and strategies which will help guide my progress in the job placement. This DFS will not affect the number of hours needed to work but will be completed on my own time.
Additional information will be supplied upon request.
In my degree program at Olds College, I have learned several new soft and hard skills related to business marketing, financial management, international and regional economics, research development, as well as leadership and problem-solving strategies. The courses have also included working with balance sheet, income statement, cash flow budgets, and the baseline skills and practices to manage a small business effectively. I also previously studied how to read land titles,
survey plans, right-of-way and surface lease agreements; as well as several government documents and regulations. Other courses included agricultural management and real estate for an overall understanding of land administration and valuation.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and to continue communications in the near future. Thank you for your time and consideration.
