What you will do:
Reporting to the Operations Manager this position will oversee Mill Production, Scheduling, Quality Control, HACCP, Staffing and Preventive Maintenance
Production
Schedule production for all shifts
Supervise and train mill workers on various shifts
Monitor production for ways to be more efficient.
Work with purchasing to maintain ingredient inventory for production requirements
Check production scheduling between Heidelberg and Linwood so that efficiency is achieved.
Provide production support when required
Quality
Investigating customer complaints
Customer service regarding bag customers at the loading lock.
Bag stock rotation (FIFA - first in, first out)
Ripped bags reworked
Proper weights on bagged products and totes
Health and Safety
Ensure employees are always practising safe working habits.
Ensure employees are wearing proper safety equipment as required.
Handle paperwork for any workplace accidents.
Work with the Health and Safety Coordinator to improve heath and safety and related training
HACCP
Maintain and verify all aspects of HACCP documentation
Review and follow relevant SOP’s and Forms as they relate to your job
Contain non-conforming product and assist in the investigation of the issue
Monitor the pest control service.
Ensure the plant is kept clean and neat as required as part of our HACCP system
Maintenance
Work with the maintenance department to ensure monthly equipment inspections are being done
Ensure the boiler maintenance program is being followed
Report any potential equipment problems to the Maintenance Department.
Inventory Control
Keep accurate account of all bags; report any shortage or surplus to Warehouse Supervisor.
Ensure that stock is rotated as required. (Follow FIFO procedure)
Be sure stockpiles are piled neatly and in their designated areas.
Administrative
Complete all documentation as required by Customers, Government and our HACCP system.
What you will need:
Related experience supervising production or similar experience in feed production manufacturing within a feed mill;
Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred, but not required.
Industrial Automation and Process Control experience and Agriculture experience an asset;
Proven Supervisory experience and change management skills an asset;
Computer skills applicable to functional responsibilities, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word;
Ability to quickly prioritize individual responsibilities and effectively manage time;
Analytical skills with attention to detail.
